Killed in action in Vietnam
"Reprinted from the Easton Express Newspaper 1966"

First Lt. Robert Critchley Keller II of Camp Hill, a 1963 graduate of Lafayette Collage, has been killed in Vietnam, the Defense Department has announced today.

Posted here is a remembrance of the accident that day by Spec 4 David Lamb who served with the 73rd SAC Avn. CO.

Lt. Albert G. Hallowell, U.S. Navy was with Lt. Robert Keller for a one-time visual/photo recon ride as an observer.   What I recall from that day was that Bob's aircraft appeared to have a fluid leak of some sort and was streaming a small amount of liquid from the underside of the fuselage. Unusual because those OV-1s were pretty tight ships and didn't tend to leak much.
Capt. Mulvanity, who was flying in another OV-1 aircraft radioed Bob and informed him that he appeared to be leaking something and then decided to make a pass underneath to see if he could tell where it was coming from and that is when it happened.  Capt.Mulvanity's turbo-prop (Starboard side I think) struck the fuselage just in front of the tail boom and pretty much sheared it off. Capt. Mulvanity did survive the mid-air (his Observer was an ARVN Lieutenant whose last name (I think) was Minh. Both were devastated by the accident, as might be expected.
